Happy holidays, fediverse!

I got you a megathrust earthquake, soil liquefaction, spine-tingling papers about the way our networks confound knowledge, and a PDF in a pear tree. It's my wrap on a year of trying to make sense of how we make sense of what's happening to us […]

I’m London ON for some family health stuff.

We ended up at The Bombay Vibes thebombayvibes.ca - in a little strip mall next to / inside of an indian grocery store.

I had panj puri for the first time, aloo tikki chaat, samosas, and paneer tikka masala with rice and garlic naan.

Very good! […]

Is “Resonant Computing” malleable software with a positive ideology applied?

I still haven’t found an umbrella term that captures Causal Islands, Ink & Switch, and similar vibes.

Shades of DWeb principles too.

I’ll keep hosting events that point us in this direction.

Railway is technically a PaaS (like Heroku). “serverless” because you don’t have to maintain the operating system. They have evolved buildpacks to Railpacks which will create containers on the fly.

OR you can use it as a Docker host

They are hosting their own bare metal servers. Recommended! […]

Ian @iansu is a technical leader who is looking for a new role. He’s built a number of “full stack” things from scratch and has a recent security designation.

Please share if you know of companies that could benefit from his skill set. https://cosocial.ca/@iansu/115748381968706376

Today marks one year since I left Neo. I posted some reflections on 2025 over on LinkedIn but the short version is I’m trying to figure out what I want to do next in 2026. I’m open to a range of opportunities. Consulting or contract work, fractional CTO/CISO roles or the right full-time position. In-person in Calgary or remote. If you know of something interesting, or just want to catch up, send me a message! https://www.linkedin.com/posts/iansu_today-marks-one-year-since-i-left-neo-i-activity-7407894450171158528-Iq93

Did you know that @spaceship.com, who is a Domain Registration plus a bunch of other hosting services, has something called "Alf AI"?

Yes, I am going to bug them to sponsor ATmosphereConf - what a perfect match!

Where should we recommend events & community host long videos that isn't YouTube?

* Vimeo - paid, embeds work, recently acquired is a bad sign
* @archive.org - free, no embeds
* Bunny - paid, lots of options including APIs, no embeds
* Peertube - self-hosted, no embeds

Full write up in the […]

Blaine's talk is SO GOOD @blaine.bsky.social - I'm going to get his slides too, and we should embed the hertzog video.

Speaking of great talks, will we have more or less tears at this year's #atmosphereconf?

I did not know the Semble logo was a cairn.

Now I want a pet rock mascot. With googly eyes.

(I should make sure we have googly eyes at the conference)

Also a very good post by @wesleyfinck.org on naming in interfaces and products.

Good news everyone! We hit our first milestone: maintenance is 100% funded. Thank you all ❤️

Next up: unlock the stretch goal to co‑design federated groups: community‑owned spaces to organise across the fediverse, with no server or platform lock‑in.

Read about why this matters and how it can […]

The 2026 #atmosphereconf is aiming to be about 2x this year.

If we hit 350-500, then year after 2027 will be roughly double and we need to start planning a year ahead to secure venues.

And! Start planning your 2026 regional confs too!

We’re growing and need to plan for it! […]
