This is Himeji city's current city plan (western edge of Kansai's urban belt, 500,000 people, giant original castle). On 6 sides of A4. If you can't do that, you're planning system is probably not very good.
(For more on this ask for my dissertation on Himeji's transit oriented development)

Are you thinking Kamikawa or Inada here?

That point you made about the bravery it took to go to the US and get into politics without big patrons always stuck with me.

Amateurs talk about NK (Nippon Kaigi). Professionals talk about NK (New Kōmeitō).

I had 300 characters. India is big. The BJP controls most states, Modi controls the centre, and the centre controls a lot of the funding capacity.
Sure Tamil Nadu is Gujarat. Kerala isn't Bihar.
But poor transport infra prioritisation is a consistent problem (Indian Railways is awesome).
borners.bsky.social
1. The problem is the unaccountable, uncosted, discretionary nature of the Heritage process. If you get rid of grade II other things will fill in the gap.
2. Its about preserving the social order and exerting social power over society. Orange Order Marches/Lynchings for the Property owning classes

From 2003 A New Deal for Transport. Shows UK rail performance 1947-2001. The contrast between the collapse of rail freight km and modest decline in passenger KM. Also can you see Beeching Cuts? Neither can I.

But you're not the Green party of Britain. Scottish Greens are gone, and Welsh Greens have divorced.
Why not admit "the Greens" are just the Green party of "the country".

Kemi Badenoch blames those crossing borders for our problems. It’s a lie aimed to distract.

The real issue is a system protecting the super-rich while nurses & carers can’t make ends meet. Tax wealth fairly, fund public services properly. This is how we give Britain hope again.

You and your awesome sexy graphics.

There's chart number 2 for the 5% figure

If I was LDs I would be talking all the time about how both Tories and Labour think southern England whether leafty or uban is seen by Labour/Tories/Reform as 2nd class citizens in electoral and fiscal rights. They need to unite Newbury and Newham.

lol abolishing stamp duty is a policy that will prove hugely popular with the wonk set before absolutely blowing up the moment they announce what would replace it - or, alternatively, how they'd fund the lost revenue

Another dope @mauricelange.bsky.social graph, showing the New Town housing ouput during the Postwar period peaking in the late 1960's....and how small current government plan is.
And housing output of New Town golden age was apparently just 5% of total.

1. Airports are much easier to build than HSR/Metros/Roads/Plumbing/Houses for the poor.
2. Rich people in India take the plane.
3. Modi likes things where he can have a press event so 1. is really important to him.
4. Gujarat model of patronage politics.

Of course both went to the same school. Two different ultra-nationalist agitators from the resentful middle classes of decaying outer Britain obsessed with violence, conquest and plunder.

Since I had run out of brainpower for more important tasks, I decided to dedicate the end of my afternoon to writing the story of Genova, its railways, its tunnels, and, of course, its port, finally putting to good use some historical mapping I had done a while ago

A mapped story of ships, boats, tunnels and freight trains.

Oh look he's a pivoted to video.
N/B I too wanted to start my pivot to video with a phonebox, but with a different spin...i.e. WHY DO CENTRAL LONDON BOROUGHS KEEP THE DAMN THINGS ON ROTTING ON SUPER BUSY PEDESTRIAN STREETS!

Don't blame the model, just how you use it.

Also like India and Canada have been here since the 1970's.

I mean the sainted 1945 Government deliberately tried to murder the city with the 1947 TCPA. Its to be expected when your ideology is that people in Paisley, Swansea and Barnsley are the moral master race of Britain and the Universe.
Urban Southern England is scary.
borners.bsky.social
And I forgot to point out, Milan is pretty much the furthest away from the coast you can get in Italy. It need to import more via rail. Naples is a port.
"colonial" memes never seem to ask why regions in the core also replicate the same network logic (East Anglia, Oz state etc).

N/B I should not have used Apulia since it has no Winnipeg. My bad. But Canadian provinces are biiiiig and unusually self-contained among OECD sub-national units.
borners.bsky.social
?
Also 1.5 million people in a territory the size of Ukraine makes it easier to spread natural resource incomes.
borners.bsky.social
My model is 3.5 routes to wealth for a urban zone.
1. Logistics nodality. 2. Capital 3. Lots natural resources per capita. 3.5. Tourism (low value added though).
Manitoba is semi-3. but still way below Canadian average as much as Apulia.
