Nah, the implication is it's a horrible interface to rely on AI taking a stab at it and getting it wrong some significant, even if not majority, percentage of time, and in the ideal future of Star Trek they've solve the "internet of shit" problem this way 😆

Is it GenX's mental shift away from post-war abundance? Boomers don't have to respect the thing because they'll just get another (or Science! will come along and make a better way to do it).

I'm realizing how oddly ingrained it is in me - this is the only way you're going to sell me on anything. And therefore the only way i think you can successfully approach making & selling a product/service, but really it isn't ofc

I mean, you capture the nostalgia in spirit - there's a vegan burger chain here called Plant Powered here that goes hard on the 1970s Mcdonalds aesthetic - yellow, orange, brown. And they've recreated the quality of fry w/o the beef tallow.

Ha! That's super specific, interesting.

It's actually at E-Line, we have some funding thru the endless side to make a game to create a lot of internships as part of the game dev education work. Which is great although sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to do it if I was 😀

That doesn't mean it's limited in the long run either - eventually as they pursue more hybrid models, adding those techniques into this kind of dataset should have bigger gains too.

Maybe a bit better than that - so far research says it gets similar performance to other models of same size (that startup is pushing a 1.2b param model, gpt3 was ~1.75b).

Yeah, it's being used for research, it's on hugging face and has downloads there), and there's startups like this one hellofuture.orange.com/en/p-c-langl...
P-C. Langlais (PLEAIS): “Our language models are trained on open corpora” - OpenTech
How did you come to found PLEAIS? What are the problems encountered by users of large language models that you aim to resolve? As a digital humanities researcher, I worked on the analysis of corpora, ...

There's Common Corpus, but that's more for people making their own llms not a service to broad users. There's some research I've seen that says it's not that different for some basic tasks... however I can't remember the specifics and the irony is I'd have to use AI to find it 😆😭
