I found the overall mystery to be very lacking. I suppose they were limited by it being set between games so it had to be inconsequential enough so as to excuse it not being reference in AINI, but still. The twists and reveals are painfully obvious

yeah, it's pretty bad lol. I could forgive it a bit more tho, just cuz No Sleep is more of a lighthearted side game. but either way, after the first game, the cast has been pretty flanderized lol

No Sleep is pretty egregious but I'd say AINI is also pretty bad for the characterization of most returning characters lol

I hate them too (except Ryuki) but that's not actually a retcon, there was a line of dialogue in AINI where one of them says as much

Yeah this was my first thought upon starting the game. It sucks a bit, especially since I liked the problem solving aspect of the original. It helped to add the feeling of playing a detective.
