In 1975 dollars, the bridge cost $75M. (That's $450M in 2025)
In 2010, HTNB estimated a rebuild in 2053 would be $450M in 2010 Dollars.

Such a projection is pure optimistic fantasy. Does anyone think it could be done for less than $2B in 2025 dollars?

$2B for 35,000 ADT is insanity.

The one thing missing from the conversation about the future of Milwaukee's 794 downtown freeway spur, and the potential for removing it, is the inevitability the the Daniel Hoan bridge is going to come down in 2053.

If you’re gonna build a city on ranch land in the middle of nowhere: pick this place. No CEQA or zoning!

6 senators. 3 house seats. 10 electoral votes (that = WI)

Make sustainability a key priority: low water impact, wind/solar/geothermal power , great transit, no private cars, etc.

Just sayin.

You’re right.

They should go for 10-1

Something tells me they did not pull the proper permits for this.

I mean, the snowmelt system in Holland, MI off the power plant there melts snow a mile away. 95 deg F Water goes through tons of plastic tubing to melt about an 1"of snow an hour at 20 deg F.

Depending on the cooling system, some can output water between 100-140.

You gotta love how aggressively wrong people will be on very easily provable facts.

"Hey, Data Centers were a big reason Iowa expanded wind energy to be 60% of its total output"

"No way! That's impossible! Sometimes it's not windy!!!!"

Nah, mostly in Copenhagen.

But back now, say hi sometime soon?!

RIP. Same energy, Stallis sticker in Iceland.

A woman was drunk & crossed over the middle of the road & crashed head on into a school bus w/ 19 elementary schoolers on board.
1) It was 804am
2) Her own 2 year old child was in the backseat of her SUV.

Thankfully, only the bus driver sustained minor injuries & she went straight to jail.

Despite being an urban planner for ~ 10 yrs, I still lose the precise # for an acre in my brainfog.

But today I learned that the technical definition of an acre is "One chain by one furlong", which is also 66ft x 660ft. Much easier!

Or you could just use this handy chart!

Facebook memories serves up a rare Win.

"Ok, so you're robbing them. Roll for initiative"

#SpeedingTickets

Every city does it: allows people to plea down to a more expensive non moving violation. They make more money, you don't lose points or get your insurance rates raised.

Win/Win, right?

Seems we're missing what could be an obvious deterrent to speeding:

Update, apparently the only thing that can defeat the Copenhagen metro is Ed Sheeran, who sold out Øresundsparken, a 45,000 capacity outdoor venue 4 nights in a row.

Copenhagen Metro headways, Sunday night, late August, 9pm.

Just ridiculous. I needed some time to recover from the shock, but then the train had already arrived.

Copenhagen is something else, I tell ya.

I didn’t insult you. I just said your opinion doesn’t mean anything to me. Which is true.

I also didn’t hide your comment, your comments were hidden from me. I think you’re being moderated because you keep posting like this.

Maybe go take a walk or something?

This practice of banning rental scooters anywhere within a mile of a crowded event needs to be outlawed immediately.

It makes zero sense that half of Wisconsin state fair park is for parking your cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even RVs, BUT NOT YOUR RENTAL SCOOTER!!!

It’s an absolute atrocity.

Not only is this easy to fix, this wouldn't read weird to ANYONE.

(except for the possessive with "former workers" instead of "former co-workers", that's weird. Did they own the company and/or the workers?)

Everytime I think about blocking emails from Quora, I'm like "Nah I'm grateful for the reminder that I'm not an awful person".

They should advertise it as "Find out your general position on the bell curve of humanity: Quora"

Especially on parenting, jeez-Louise.

Example number 09845272103 of why its a bad idea to let people unfamiliar with the concept of inflation draft legal documents.

I'm wondering if this counts as an affordable housing provision these days.
Where are these houses costing less than $9000, anyway? Can I have one?
July 23, 2025 at 4:17 PM
I mean, this is the current one, so never say never. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
July 20, 2025 at 2:25 AM
I’m not sure if you’re trying to deny the actual map similarities, or you’re trying to say the GOP bad, Dems good, or whatever.

Would help to know your angle, otherwise ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How about we zoom in here to Chicago ?
