Yes, I really do build model kits as a day job....
OK - one final presentation in 2025 for you, as well as the Skeleton Army I've been working on Ray Harryhausen's Medusa from "Clash of the Titans" (1982). Star Ace 1/6. More photos here: bowemodels.co.uk/gallery/spac...

Engines on. The Academy cowlings are woefully wrong, and the Quickboost "corrected" versions aren't really any better. So back to the donor Revell kit to steal yet more parts and fettle them on. #AcademyB17F

Putting the engines together #AcademyB17F

Wings on! Note the serious shim and fill needed at the wing root in order to deal with the ridiculous excessive dihedral that this Academy kit is famous for. #AcademyB17F

Preparing the wings. The Academy B-17 is well shaped and accurate, however lacks a few distinguishing features, such as the central wing vents. Too much to ignore IMHO so have carved them out of the Revell kit and grafted them in. #AcademyB17F

Starting on the 1/72 B17 by a bit of dressing up in the rather spartan Academy cockpit. #AcademyB17F

Next up - like buses! Apologies for the deja vu, but this time in 1/72 scale so hopefully I can get it into the spray booth in one piece. IMHO, while a bit basic, it's the most accurate B-17 in 1/72 and I am throwing every extra at it. Not as "the Belle" thankfully. #AcademyB17F

Main painting done. As you can imagine, painting with the wings attached is not particularly practical in 1/32 scale... #HKB17F
