This intro was an immense source of inspiration to me back then, one of the reasons I'm still making 64k intros to this day.

We have spent a little time helping our friends at Altair out to restore one of our favorite 64k intros from 2001:

"SCREAM" by Altair is now once again fully functional on modern Windows!

Kicked off a long overdue #artstation page too. Not much there yet, but it's a start :) Planning a few more @mandragoragame.com BTS stuff in the future so stay tuned! www.artstation.com/zoomvfx #Portfolio #GameDev #VFX #RealtimeVFX #Niagara #GameArt #GameDevCommunity

I’d have to know more and have access to one of those

I assume that the natural coordinate system of a phone is relative to the screen :D
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Dear Apple. I'm glad you finally realized that phones are too large. I've been saying this for years. But damn, NOT ALONG THE Z AXIS!

Ever found a couple thousand bucks between the sofa cushions? That's how we felt last night when toggling a single compiler flag shrunk our 64k engine code by 20%.

Moral of the story: don't assume anything when moving compilers in a size-coding context.

Gotta love AI overviews. That's two WD ssd product codes I wanted to compare to figure out the 40 eur price difference at my usual retailer.

Hello everyone who found us through this starter pack recently 👋 We're a Hungarian demogroup and we've been making 64 kilobyte intros for 20+ years now, using our own procedural tooling that looks/looked like this 👇

Yeah that’s more inline with the bugged behavior that prompted me to create this solution.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Also obviously i’m talking about using the remapped copilot button as the ctrl key in these situations, not the original ctrl.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Very odd, anything I tried ignored any shift press. What’s the key combination you had to use in powertoys? And what system?
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Shift-ctrl-tab tab switching and shift-ctrl-arrow key text selection works as well? (Both when shift is pressed first and when ctrl is pressed first?)
boyc.conspiracy.hu
I'm still holding out where I can, but the new laptop doesn't have win10 drivers anymore, so that's another negative. I did see some third-party hacks to move the taskbar to the side and they help a bit but it's far from optimal.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
This is not about AI. It's about standard expected hardware functionality (a damn right-ctrl button) being replaced by a random feature without the option to revert it.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Ah yes you can do that but mapping it to what you'd expect to be there is an afterthought :D
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Not if you want to keep shift+ctrl support intact in my experience. Could be that different vendors implement it differently but at least on my laptop the shift key was swallowed up with powertoys.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
Oh don't get me started on the lack of a vertical taskbar.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
This specific laptop is an Asus TUF A14 and from what I've seen it's pretty dominant across their whole lineup. The fact that there isn't even a bios setting to change the behavior and the button just sends a random key combination is pure lunacy.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
The right one, yeah. It may be a minor issue for some, but I hate having the copilot crap constantly pop up when trying to navigate code because I'm used to one handed navigation with cursor+ctrl keys, and there wasn't a solution out there yet that could take the shift selection into account.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
I tried everything I could find (including Sharpkeys, powertoys, etc) and all of them had the flaw that they hid any shift key interaction due to the copilot key also sending shift down and up signals. This solution eliminates all that at the driver level and solves the problem once and for all.
boyc.conspiracy.hu
I managed to buy a laptop with a copilot key not realizing that it can't be set to act as the ctrl key, and all workarounds ignore the fact that the hardware actually sends "win+shift+f23", taking over the shift button and making shift+ctrl+arrow key selection impossible. Well. NO. MORE. COPILOT.

I spent painstaking months on this, and without a doubt this is one of the proudest I've been of everything I've ever worked on.

SR is a demo without which a lot of us wouldn't be doing what we're doing, so to make it run natively on my machine was very emotional.

We're incredibly proud to announce that Second Reality has now been finally ported to a modern operating system, and you can watch it tear up your system: no video, no emulation, just code - as it should be.

Second Reality, along with the legendary Assembly party were among the earliest influences to the members of Conspiracy. Today we're honoring the 32nd anniversary with a gift to the community: a native 32 bit port of the demo that kicked off the PC demoscene era with a bang.

Hi #PortfolioDay!

We made all these things.

They all fit into 64 kilobytes. Yes, KILObytes.
