IMO a really underrated Robin Hanson idea: insurance that pays out when some condition that approximates "robots took most jobs" is triggered.

It can also be done at gov-level: gov buys securities that pay out {1 year of GDP} once the "robots take most jobs" condition is triggered.

I’ve long described the following as the most obviously helpful policy response to the possibility of advanced AI. But even though I’ve long known many folks who say they are very worried about AI...

I'm still thankful every day for the fact that most websites are built on an HTML DOM that is so friendly to introspection and hacking. Given the directions the rest of mainstream computing is going it feels like a miracle that we got that and it has held on for so long.

Introducing deep funding. Two key ideas:

1. Value as a graph: instead of asking "how much did X contribute to humanity?", ask "how much of the credit for Y belongs to X?"
2. Distilled human judgement: an open market of AIs fills in all weights, human jury randomly spot-checks them

The replies on here may not be as racist as Twitter, but they damn sure are hateful.
Talk AI: FU, AI sucks go away
Talk Business: Go away
Talk Healthcare: Crickets.

Engagement went from great convos on many topics, to agree with me or you are a nazi fascist

Why would anyone stop using Twitter if the only topic that is acceptable to you is news and politics ?

Think people want to talk about other things ?
It doesn't matter.

Your gauge of success is wrong.

What does matter is getting more content, and I'm referring to current, immediate content that's relevant, i.e. videos and commentary about ICE raids, etc.

People and media need to stop using Twitter.

The moderation and block tools on here are so advanced , if you see someone you don’t want to see on here, just block them. Don’t attack them.

There used to be great give and take discussions on politics and news. Not so much any more.

Doesn’t have to be this way
What are you proposing?

I want an alternative to Twitter to survive and thrive I think it’s important for BS to grow as a way to offset or diminish the cultural and political impact that Twitter has.

This is why I care.

This is why healthcare is too expensive.

"Here’s a wild-but-true factoid: 10 of the 20 largest companies on the new Fortune 500 list derive profit from the 340B program. I guess you can’t throw off tens of billions of profits without titans of industry figuring out how to get their hands on it."
