Maybe. But the disparate schedules doesn’t create the same issues. Another thing would be to just overhaul scheduling completely and make the division aspect less important.

I have had a thought that they could keep the schedule as it is. Use the intra conference schedule to create groups of 8. So this year NFC North and East would be a group. Only the top team of that group is guaranteed a home game.

It is fair. You are in a group of four teams with almost identical schedules. If you cant win your division you don’t deserve a home game.

Hey Bryan. Do you have, or know where to find, historical week by week clinching scenarios? I know there is a site with week by week standings, but it doesn't include playoff seeding.

Yeah. Anecdotally, I feel like there used to be more scoreboard watching situations in the final week, which was great. Now they are just hoping for one or two elimination games for the night slots.

I get it but I also hate that it guarantees a bunch of meaningless divisional games when 2/3 of the league is out of playoff contention. I don’t have another suggestion though.

I have never really liked that the final week is all divisional games but I think maybe it has all been worth it for this.

When I watch 80s games I am shocked by how loose the definition of a catch was. But they have really over done it these days.
