It usually affects the length of the neck, though. The 24 fret might be 34" inch scale (from nut to bridge) and the sterling is probably 33".
I prefer 24 frets for the visual of the neck repeating itself.

One thing I noticed, if it matters to you, is the ESP is 24 frets and the sterling isn't.
Also, If you could somehow compare the weight, that could be a deciding factor. Some basses are super heavy and tear up your back and shoulder after a while.
