In fact, their new book "The Parkinson's Plan" refers to the story of a disease similar to progressive supranuclear palsy "discovered" by Dr. John Steele on the island of Guam. That neurological disease on Guam was caused by the ingestion of cynaobacteria.

Interesting article about how dolphins develop a disease like Alzheimer's, perhaps from cynaobacterial blooms. This reminds me of Dr. Okun and Dr. Dorsey's hypothesis that degreasing chemicals such as TCE and pesticides such as paraquat are causing the pandemic of PD.

Do you know how genes and the environment shape Parkinson’s disease? Does the time (or the temporal sequence) of events matter? Genetic risk factors unfold over time, interact w/ environmental exposures and may contribute to the many ways Parkinson’s disease shows itself. @thelancet.com

We seek answers and understanding about mom's disease, but my greatest hope now is that her donation will provide a meaningful contribution to the collective fight for a cure to frontotemporal dementia. That does bring some comfort.
