Usually I pour my hope into advancements in medicine and technology. I have a fair few mental things that came pre installed when I was born.

That is totally a fair complaint, I think thematically it makes sense since you know it's in the middle of the age of S'jet (IIRC). So the Hiigaran navy having a more standardized design for most things makes a ton of sense. I personally prefer HW2's ship designs myself.
