Yeah, I happened to catch it at my local arthouse during its oddly brief theatrical run back in October. It *really* needs to be seen on a big screen.

I didn’t love love LOVE the movie, but McConaughey was so damn good in this. Not sure why he’s not in the Oscar conversation at all this year.

It is so atrocious and the dialogue made me want to WEEP, but the story is solid!

> #HeatedRivalry > think this show’s not a *sensation* among the streaming set? Billboard reported yesterday that plays of some of its synched songs have spiked by as much as fourteen THOUSAND percent week over week. 👀

> #HeatedRivalry > episode three > I’d suspect we won’t see much more of Kip in the other three episodes of this series — which, 😭😭😭 — but that actor made the absolute MOST of the material he got.

> #HeatedRivalry > episode three > hey, here’s the priceless power of a charming actor who’s not afraid to go for it: I found whiny Kip largely detestable in the second half of the GAME CHANGER book, but Robbie G.K. had me rapt from the exact moment he opened his mouth. >>

> #HeatedRivalry > episode three > Lord JESUS, the Skip book. The BOOK! The dialogue is cringey af and the atrocious writing in spots is just west of a human rights violation, but damn if the author doesn’t weave a wildly enchanting story nonetheless.
Howdy #HeatedRivalry fans who haven’t yet taken a chance on the source material 👋 at least for the rest of the day, a compendium of the first three books in author Rachel Reid’s series — including the first Shane/Ilya novel, as well as Scott & Kip’s — is on sale in Amazon’s Kindle store for $1.99 👇

> #HeatedRivalry > episode three > my Hollanov-obsessed husband was COMPLETELY nonplussed by the arrival of these new boys, but I found the Skip story quite compelling and am still wondering over them a week on. (I read the Skip book a couple of days ago, so of course I am.)
> #HeatedRivalry > my husband, who was literally ready to call the COPS on me earlier this summer when I flipped over Matt Wilson, is suddenly ALL ABOUT these two gentlemen, and don’t think for a SECOND that I’m going to let him hear the end of it. 🤣
> #HeatedRivalry episode the first > my Russian-speaking Ukrainian immigrant husband attests that the one dude’s Russian accent was nearly flawless, and he’s a TOUGH judge of such. 🤣 (Google informs me that dude is from 🥁🥁 Odessa, Texas, which fact had me FLUMMOXED!)

Also of note on SLG: a spine-tingling cover of Eminem’s ‘’97 Bonnie and Clyde’ that you’ve genuinely got to hear to believe — and even THEN, you won’t!! — and a stunning take on Boomtown Rats’ ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ that I’d nearly certainly put front and center in my own Tori top ten.

Amos performed ‘Time’ on album release day — Sept 18, 2001 — on what was David Letterman’s second show back on the air following 9/11. The performance — spare, intimate, incredibly powerful — was so startlingly good that Letterman literally got choked up trying to end the show afterward. 😭 👇

One final thing, in conclusion!

It potentially ought go without saying, but this corner of the ‘Sky is very pointedly called BRANDON’S Buzz — hey, that’s me! I’m Brandon! — and my opinion is precisely what you get when you come here!

As for Nate … we will clock him getting name-checked periodically over the next year or so as Aaron slowly shifts toward his next romantic entanglement, but we never actually SEE him again. He’s gone like a dollar spent on a drink, as the saying goes!

Him exiting #Neighbours stage left was hardly a debilitating loss in twenty and sixteen, and is barely as much as a footnote in the final ledger with the benefit of a decade of hindsight. Adios, bro, and fare thee well! 👋

Anyway, not that it is at ALL relevant, but my final pair of cents on Meyne Wyatt are as follows: the chaotic, surly, rage-filled sheen of his presentation diminishes — *wholesale* — the validity of his message.
December 10, 2025 at 3:22 AM
Like, I’m biased as HELL, but you’ll never make me believe that Matt Wilson was the problem in the Matt/Meyne relationship. Never EVER!
