A wholeheartedly impressive sequel and standalone game in its own right.
Successfully expands on both the story and gameplay of the original without compromising a thing!
Hornet was fun. Music was great. Lots of challenges in store!

1) Donkey Kong Bananza
The first game I've beaten this year and the best so far! Kinetic fun, and more story beats than I would've expected from a Donkey Kong game!
If only these guys could take a crack at Banjo Kazooie too!

I could see there being a space for a satirical card game where they caricature characters to represent how "The Others" perceive them as a way to promote dialogue. i.e. the Metal Slug character portraits which were rumored(falsely) to be from the enemies point of view. But this... This is not that.

8) Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club
My spooky-game pick for Halloween this year was Emio!
Gotta say it lived up to my expectations. Another great entry in the series and was absolutely perfect for the season. Love both the humor and the drama in this game!

7) Astro Bot
After the short but sweet Astro's Playroom, I was excited enough to sink my teeth into this full blown affair and I wasn't disappointed.
While losing a bit of Playroom's originality, it makes up for that with the further fleshed out campaign.
