The US is, in its current Trump controlled state, essentially an enemy of democratic Europe and should be seen as such.

When Trump looks at how Putin and his fellow oligarchs essentially stole the assets of the former USSR and made themselves into kings, he thinks to himself that's how it should be in America.

Trump's worldview is transactional. It's what he thinks he can get out of any situation. In the US, he essentially steals public money and assets. The tariff chaos there was great for a bit of disaster capitalism. He wants to be back to doing official business with his fellow criminal Putin.

So Putin has successfully scared him into inaction and now he's going to put the whole of Europe at risk. Great.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that Trump is really quite ill. There's a definite sense of desperate urgency to his recent behaviour, even by his standards.
