I do not hate the songs. I do not hate the way I look. At minimum, I think I should be allowed to exist. I think it should be okay to be seen.

Today got me. I don't usually post on social media or write honestly about what's happening. And I definitely don't post clips of my songs - god forbid anyone think I like myself or my work too much. But today I feel the inevitability of being seen.

I keep saying it's not really about trans people - we're just a smoke screen for the attacks on institutions. That's what I tell myself. That the hate isn't personal. But today I'm in Michigan, away from family, surrounded by trumpers in my hotel, and that story is harder to believe.
