I can’t speak on payment processing, but I believe you get one state of tax calculations for free. To upgrade to more you’d need to use TaxJar. There are other provides out there. I’m not sure if TaxWire has an integration but I believe Zamp does. I love that Shopify has that built in.

It's an additional cost, but I think you could use TaxJar with Squarespace if you need. Although it is unfortunate that it's not built-in. :(

I’ve been in e-commerce for about a decade. If I were to set up a new store today, it would be on Shopify. I think it has a great combo of out-of-the-box functionality with a good App Store with additional features available.
