Yes, but they don't care.

Does Sportsnet know the game is broadcast outside of Toronto?
brendanfromndg.bsky.social
It’s kind of charming how excited the Sportsnets guys get about the Leafs.
brendanfromndg.bsky.social
Can the Sportsnet guys talk about the Habs? Rhetorical question.

Absolute madhouse at @mcleanspub tonight, people simultaneously watching Blue Jays game and Habs Leafs opening night bout.

"Habs Nation should appeal to Montreal Canadiens fans, readers interested in the link between sport and culture, or anyone wishing to take a deeper dive into the relationship between the team and the province of Quebec."

From the Globe and Mail, on my book Habs Nation: "Unlike some English-speaking fans, he doesn’t think of the connection between francophones and the team as a relic or a frill. Instead, he recognizes it as the lifeblood of the club." www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hocke...

Two more sleeps till the party breaks out on Cavendish Blvd. High Fidelity makes its much-anticipated return to one of the most happening bars in the heart of NDG, the Wheel Club. (Eds. note: Ummm one of the only bars too!) I play '80s new wave and disco and YOU DANCE. $10 cash at door.

The Walrus published the chapter from my book Habs Nation on the Habs & the two solitudes: "The English and French can both agree that we live and die with le bleu-blanc-rouge, but in some ways, we don’t see the same thing when we go to the Bell Centre." thewalrus.ca/montreal-fig...

I believe senior management understands this. In fact I know they do.

I do not deny the Habs need to maintain a French identity. I think it is a good thing. As long as they understand they do also have a very strong identity as an International brand. Many organizations would be envious of the Habs' worldwide recognition
brendanfromndg.bsky.social
I am honestly very sensitive to that. This book is the story of the symbiotic relationship between the Habs and their home province. But there is another great book to be written about what the team means to the rest of the country.

Just do not forget the millions of fans outside of Quebec. I am no less a Habs fan than you are because I watched Dryden, Lafleur et al from my living room in Nova Scotia

Amazing piece on the Canadiens, French identity and my book Habs Nation in The Globe and Mail. "As a long-time hockey and music writer for the Montreal Gazette, he is a keen interpreter of the Canadiens’ operatic relationship with Quebec." www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hocke...

Sandinista! is one of only a handful of albums I have on both cd and lp, I must confess I tend to put on the cd out of conveniences (it’s only 2 CDs, 3 sides per)

Anyway you cut it, he is not a 4th line player. Putting him there is like putting a fish in the desert. 4th should be energy line that bangs and crashes. That’s not him. We will see I guess. Might not be on that line long.
