a fun fact about the DMD is that I hand-pixelled the font into a single image that weighs just 389 bytes
as in: one-third of one kilobyte.

the reason we didn't end up going with this despite the awesome memory numbers is the quantization of gradients were really bad
but maybe that's a settings / skill issue on our part

that doesn't even make sense? even assuming coordination and willingness wasn't an issue, europe barely holds any US treasuries as a percentage
if they sold them all at zero (which would crash their own holdings entirely) it would - at best - reduce the total value on earth by like, 10%

it's 2025 and we're just now thinking that busses maybe should have winter tires on in the winter, because every time it snows (which is 7 months of the year) all the busses end up in various ditches and buildings

I suspect that wherever this data source is from ("all photos"???) probably has a lot of scans of paper arts and other types of matting such that you end up with white pixels from archives of e.g. this:

generally yeah - even things that we perceive as being bright are very rarely truly #ffffff white pixels
for example: neither of these technically have any white in them at all

the thing we have to remember is that colour was incredibly hard to make for most of human history, and so most of our famous paintings from antiquity just don't really have much colour in them
