Also, even if we don’t. Even if we’re standing in front of those horrendous metal ladders and chains and feel that we can’t make it up all the way today?

Well, the view from halfway up is still pretty spectacular too.

Remember that!

Okay. Love you. Bye.

So here’s my message today… let’s lace up, show up and tackle whatever mountain is in front of us.

We’ve got this!

You’ve got the grit, guts and probably snacks. Friends, snacks are essential. You always need snacks. Okay maybe not always. But you definitely have everything inside you to succeed.

There are work mountains, life mountains and those little bumps in the road that somehow feel like Everest-sized mountain.

But here’s the thing: whether it’s a steep climb (with a tequila hangover) or just your overflowing inbox… you can climb it.
January 22, 2025 at 9:17 AM
I digress.

This post is not just about the real mountain we climbed today.

It’s about all the mountains we face every day.

Even though we were out drinking tequila last night. We had a lot of tequila. Gingerbread flavoured. It was delicious. We also had frozen Aperol Spritz that tasted like Mango smoothies. I didn’t like that one.

We’re in Cape Town (for Robbie Williams) and as proper Joburgers who love to overachieve, we tackled Laaion’s Head this morning.

So no matter what happens today, let’s choose to see everything as an opportunity, a lesson and a chance to embrace the light.

Choose the light.
Be the light.

We are wasted in the dark.

Okay. Love you. Bye.

And today, Marcus Mumford echoed that sentiment in a different way, “Light me up, I’m wasted in the dark.”

Four years ago today, Amanda Gorman reminded us of something so powerful, “There is always light, if we are brave enough to see it. There is always light, if we are brave enough to be it.”

But honestly, I think it’s because I started my day with gratitude. Before the sun even peeked over the horizon, I took a moment to be thankful - for this day, for the incredible opportunities in my life and for the simple truth that every moment is a gift.

Oh… and I just found a new Mumford & Sons song. That definitely helps.

Or perhaps it’s the two pups curled up on my lap right now. Yes, that could absolutely be it.

I’ve been up since 5am, I’m already three coffees deep, my emails are cleared and I’m kicking off this week with my first keynote of the year (and let me tell you, the first half of this year is already booking up FAST).

Or maybe it’s because I’m not afraid of Mondays.

Actually, I love them!

Maybe it’s the “hangover” from the raddest weekend ever. It was packed with lunches and dinners, swimming with our twins, birthday parties, PlayStation marathons, catching up with friends, reading books, watching movies and the most amazing home-cooked food.

Simply because you exist. You are important, deserving, loving, intelligent, compassionate, inspiring, brave, true, strong and able.

You are worthy now!

And I will keep telling you this until you realise it for yourself!

Maybe read that all again.

Okay. Love you. Bye.

Fudge it. I’m going for that mimosa after gym. All we have is now. And life is about balance, after all.

Okay. Love you. Bye.
January 13, 2025 at 4:16 AM
And here’s the profound bit I want you to carry today:

You don’t need permission to slow down, to find joy, to feel everything deeply. Just don’t waste it waiting for the perfect time. This moment, right now, is the only one promised.

10. Gratitude is a game-changer. Even on the hardest days, there’s always something to be thankful for. Find it, name it, hold onto it.
January 13, 2025 at 4:16 AM
9. Kindness costs you nothing but it can change everything. Whether to a stranger or yourself, extend it often.
January 13, 2025 at 4:16 AM
8. Your timeline is yours. Stop comparing your progress to someone else’s highlight reel. There’s no expiry date on growth.
January 13, 2025 at 4:16 AM
7. You’re allowed to rewrite the script. Your story isn’t set in stone. If something isn’t working, change it. Be bold enough to believe in better.
