Yup, we need the right people. I naively thought it was destroy the maga movement and then reform the democrats. But the current dems are unequipped and many are simply uninterested in doing so.

Totally! I strongly value science and math. I admittedly flamed out with differential equations and organic chemistry but am glad I took all those math and science classes as I at least have the ability to follow along when I listen to experts talk. Squeaked out a quantitative science minor too.

What point are you trying to make? I don’t have a problem with STEM. I just hate that we have consistently downplayed the importance of humanities and see them as important too.

It’s pretty easy to explain. Seattle is socially liberal but has been economically very moderate. It’s a place where the culture is leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone. Throw in the influence Microsoft, Amazon, and Boeing have you can see how it transforms into “leave my money alone.”

Absolutely. We have deprioritized other areas of education to our own peril and we are seeing the fallout from that. We need historians, philosophers, and so many other disciplines more than ever. We need people to be able to think holistically and critically with high level of creativity.

I’m on the west coast too. We need to stop paying federal income taxes and use it to fund our own programs. We subsidize the rest of the country with no real benefit to show for it.
