The credit or stipend or however you wanted to do it would have to be so astronomically high to actually financially incentivize people. Not a single person would decide to have a child at even $10k per baby.

The point is your analysis puts the cart so far in front of the horse as to be useless. Maybe, just maybe, actions and events between now and June 2028 will have an effect on polling.

Negotiating for spending commitments that the administration feels no actual commitment to is a waste of everyone’s time. This is going to get bad whether or not Democrats help put a bandaid on a bullet hole.

I mean that’s just what quarterbacks you’re not cutting who’ve done well for you cost now. Next year there will be three more guys who get paid cause their team decided to shit instead of get off the pot.

Go to Thanh Long in the Outer Sunset. Best crab in the city.

I’m not a Dylan hater but wow those opening vocals gave me a jump scare. This song sounds like someone making fun of Dylan.

Curious what you think of Greetings From Asbury Park. I love it but it comes off as Springsteen trying to be Dylan.

Ours are about 2 1/2 years apart and it seems ideal. Close enough that now they play together but spaced out far enough that we weren’t completely underwater after bringing #2 home.

I think he thinks RFK’s support was the tipping point in him winning so all his bullshit must be really popular. Clearly no one is showing him accurate polling anymore.

Odious sneering at foreigners is their whole deal. They’ll love this shit.

“Democrats didn’t lose, democratic voters criticizing Democrats is why they lost.” Really not fighting the blue maga allegations.

Hit dog will holler and all that. I’m not the one who got all huffy in Oliver’s replies over valid criticism.

To describe people like you who refuse to see fault in the party. I also have voted democratic my entire life and would not fall into that category. I want a strong Democratic Party. We don’t have that. The best way to get that is to loudly criticize leadership until they’re forced to change.
brettconnolly.bsky.social
Oliver very much does not say that both parties are the same. Mischaracterizing the criticism is just more deflecting!
brettconnolly.bsky.social
No the people pointing out how ineffectual and incompetent Democratic leadership are pushing for change. If you agree with Chuck Schumer that we should pursue bipartisan legislation with authoritarians, say so. But deflecting all criticism is just enabling their learned helplessness.
brettconnolly.bsky.social
You get the party you want when you loudly signal that you expect absolutely nothing from them.

A relatively small number of employees that are worth a lot of money to them.

Huh, Republicans listen to their voters. Maybe Democrats should try listening to theirs?
brettconnolly.bsky.social
Looking to polling to make moral decisions is exactly why Democratic leadership is so feckless. Center left strategists act like public opinion is this immovable force that must be yielded to while Republican strategists hammer the issues they want to shift public opinion.

I’d wager that things like restrictions on mail in voting and ICE agents posted outside of polling locations are infinitely more likely than literally cancelling elections. Not those things aren’t awful and illegal themselves.

I’d really wonder if someone who willingly married Charlie Kirk is capable of that reflection.

It’s so, so good. It’s also interesting seeing a contemporaneous telling of how they were treated vs the universal veneration they received as decades passed.

No one’s talking about going full Amish. All things in moderation. Gen Z has been fully steeped in internet poisoning and their brains seem cooked. It’s ok to look at that and wonder if there’s a better way.

Those kids were weird cause they didn’t socialize with other kids. If you think being online is the only way for kids to socialize that certainly speaks to the larger problem OP is seeking to address.
