Health tech writer, runner, dad, that sort of thing.
The more pics I see of smiling health tech executives in DC yesterday, the more I keep thinking of the line from Your Racist Friend by They Might Be Giants:

You can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

My 4-year-old is so proud of his ability to place his own order at Dunk's - 2 orders of hash browns, 1 old fashioned doughnut, and a bottle of water - that this, too, hits close to home.

If the AI tool you use to send me an email to try to get me to download your AI tool can't be bothered to spell words correctly, then you have no business offering me an AI tool

The cat knocked something over and I immediately said "It's OK, we can always clean up a mess" and if that's not Peak Dad then frankly I don't know what is

Vaccination schedules on the CDC website have already started changing under RFK Jr. So we published a guide to the evidence-based vaccine recommendations in place *before* all 17 members of the advisory panel were abruptly dismissed by the new admin. www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-... 🧪

My home internet was down for a couple days. I went to the library yesterday, which has open Wi-Fi, and this app asked me to log in.

Now that I'm back on secure Wi-Fi at home, I'm logged back in.

Well played, BlueSky.

I wrote an eBook! It's on the future of #telehealth ~5 years after the height of utilization amid the pandemic. It's free to download this weekend, as my Father's Day gift to you.

Dropping another one: This is a look at the market for lifestyle management apps and why, even amid the GLP-1 craze, their future looks bright: www.dhinsights.org/news/glp-1s-...
GLP-1s won’t mark the end of lifestyle management programs
Weight-loss drugs like GLP-1s are popular; lax adherence and high costs suggest lifestyle management is critical; digital health can help.

Another example of my writing for y'all, this one a summary of a paper from MIT looking at what humans do better than AI. Hint: It's the things that make us human.

These human capabilities complement AI’s shortcomings | MIT Sloan
The work tasks that AI is least likely to replace are those that depend on uniquely human capacities, such as empathy, judgment, ethics, and hope.

Reintroducing myself as I increase activity here. I'm a freelance writer who mostly covers #healthcare and enterprise tech. One of my latest pieces looks at how the industry approaches #upskilling, particularly for #AI and #cybersecurity roles in high demand. healthtechmagazine.net/article/2025...
Upskilling Healthcare IT Staff to Meet AI and Cybersecurity Needs
The complexities of emerging technology and the challenges of recruiting new talent are leading healthcare organizations to build the skills of the staff they have.

Stop defaulting to 12-point font, Microsoft Word. I'm not yet ready to admit I'm middle aged, OK?

The ol' brain machine wasn't working yesterday and I forgot to tag #HITsm. I blame my case of pink eye. No joke. Even funnier: I got it *without* my son bringing it home from preschool. I'm quite confuzzled.

Life hack:

Live in an old house? Doing laundry? Need to shower? Want to know when the wash cycle will be done without going to the basement?

Hop in the shower while the laundry's still going. When the water pressure finally returns to normal, BOOM, the wash is done!

Every month, I write a blog post recapping the work I did and the shenanigans I had with my son (3). My latest is more about putting 2025 goals onto paper, so to speak. brianeastwoodwrites.wordpress.com/2025/01/02/t...

One of my main takeaways from New Year's Eve is that, if you're hosting a party for young kids and plan to watch fireworks at, say, 5 p.m. local time, then 4:55 p.m. is too late to try to find the international fireworks coverage you desire...

New here? Me too. I'm a writer focused primarily on healthcare and healthcare tech. Here's one example of my work, from Manifest's HealthTech Magazine:

Back after a bit of time away.

Brian here, posting about healthcare, health tech, running, fatherhood, and the like. Probably will shamelessly share links to stuff I write from time to time, too.
