Former Gunner and Master Bombardier, CDN Artillery. Former race car builder and driver. Fell down and broke my neck once, don't do that.
Remember that Bell (and their brands including Virgin) and Telus (and their brands, including Public) share the same antenna nework, so have the same coverage. Plans differ, of course. Rogers has their own network, as does east link.

I don't understand why people are bringing children to these protests, when we all know they stand a high risk of violence, tear gassing, etc? Why isn't that treated as child endangerment, which is a criminal offense?

If you have $10K equity in a $500K house and it appreciates by 5% annually for 10 years, your equity would have grown to $314K. Hard to turn a $10K investment into $314K with virtually no risk in 10 years any other way than real estate leverage.

If you bought a $500K house with a 2% down payment and 2% over prime rate, 25 year am, that's right around $3,200 a month (not counting all the other odds and ends like property tax, heat, insurance, etc.) Seems like a lot to me, but what do I know about things these days.

Rates to be linked to no more than 2% over prime, they said. I can't find the article now. CBC article has no details. Must be a credit union lender.

They are doing it without the requirement for mortgage insurance, somehow. They will reimburse up to 90% of any default loss to the lender.

Did I imagine it, or did I read that Nova Scotia will guarantee the mortgage to buy a house up to $500K based on a good credit score and a 2% ($10K) down payment? $10K isn't much more than first and last months rent plus a damage deposit on a nice rental place.

The useful metric might be "available but unallocated/vacant for over a month", because that might illustrate the inefficiencies in the system.

I think this is a masterful move for both sides. As far as EV's are concerned, our market has to absorb them. They might get sold, they might get ignored. They'll need dealers and support, jobs on our ground. Our agriculture sector gets a big boost. Biggest win in a long time.

If you were retired and living on withdrawals from an RRSP, based on a 35% income tax rate and the 4%withdrawal rule, to pay that you'd need an RRSP with $925K in it to draw upon maintaining the balance. Not counting inflation and rent increases over time. Call it a million bucks just for rent.

It's her happy place.

Every time an article by the Sun gets referenced, it should be "US right-wing hedge fund owned Sun "reporter"... So we don't overlook that most of Canada's press is owned by Trump loving suckholes.

My dentist said maybe covid vaccination caused me to develop Atrial fibrillation last year. That opinion is a lot more common than you would think among medical professionals.

Sore arm for a few days, overly tired for one day (napped, big deal) and that was it. Only after the second shot for some reason. Way better than shingles,

Where is that?

When I hear "Dad Joke" I think of a sappy, kind of silly joke that makes fun of Dad's and their propensity to do stupid stuff. When I hear "Mom Joke" I think of a sappy, kind of silly joke that makes fun of Dad's and their propensity to do stupid stuff... :)

Hostile crowds is the point of the exercise, claiming armed insurrection requiring military power is the end game, resulting in elections eliminated and dictatorship forever.

Not only that, they have a guaranteed rate of return of 9%. They are allowed, by law, to charge what's required to achieve that ROR, in the face of legitimate costs and expenses. WE don't have to like it, we just have to pay it or change it.
September 3, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Me too. Last year I went into our DR office and the injection lady (a NP) topped us up on all of our vaccinations - everything that needed boosters. This spring I went to a provincial popup clinic and got Shingrix and the Covid booster, and it took a total of 30 minutes including the wait after.

AS far as I know, I've read all of all of them, fiction works anyway.

They said it's in compliance with the forest ban, which def includes anything with an engine, so it might be counter-intuitive but I wouldn't be going there with a motor bike. Easier to broad-brush it than to create carveouts that will confuse people.

I highly recommend not having this done, btw, so don't fall down your stairs during a hurricane.

In my case the repair was to remove the discs between the vertebrae, lock them in place with the plate, then pack the space left over with bone graft material. After some period of time the bone graft became actual "my" bone and locked the three vertebrae together.
July 31, 2025 at 12:09 PM
I had a bone graft (technically two I suppose) when I broke my neck. Between C5 and C6, and between C6 and C7, in addition to a plate screwed in. They offered to harvest bone from my leg, which sounded painful and horrible, so I had the no-name variety.
