No one tell their lead-footed bus drivers (not complaining). I think there are multiple factors. My crank theory is that the TTC thought that council would replace the old streetcars with buses and they have never forgiven them for that.

Not just months. It's been decided since at least 2020.

There was some kind of cultural change when the TTC got the new flexity streetcars, where they decided that any driver that crashes into them is the TTC's fault. Why the change? We can only theorize.

Slow zones are TTC's fault, signals are Toronto Transportation Services' fault (confirmed by Metrolinx), and the design issues are Metrolinx's/ North American engineering profession's fault.

The transit agency that notoriously hates operating streetcars and bustitutes them as much as possible is purposely sabotaging them? I'm shocked.

At least they added bike lanes, which will be much faster than taking the streetcar.

This looks like something out of Florida.

But Canadians hate European cities. It's why we never travel to Europe for vacation ever.

Need to account for driver error as the buses will be travelling at 200 km/h.

City planners to their credit probably want to get ahead of this, but political maverick Lily Cheng thinks if she does delays this further then nothing will happen. Lol.

By my calculation, it is 1 km/h faster than St. Clair. Baby steps.

In today's down market I think it's fair to say it is.

How would that work without an updated property tax assessment? I think doing that plus progressive property tax would have the mayor stepping on two political landmines at once.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it etc. etc.

Tangential to this all the office workers who own pickup trucks but then complain that people are always asking to borrow it to haul heavy stuff should be sent straight to jail. When you buy a pickup you have to accept the obligations that come with it.

Ah I missed that
November 29, 2025 at 5:14 PM
To be fair, it's not super clear that city council would have even kept them after FIFA.
November 29, 2025 at 5:05 PM
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've emailed councillors about it, TTC Riders even had a media campaign on it. It's not a sexy issue. Especially if a city's politics lean heavily towards status quo.

The red light trap doesn't apply here because it's a protected only left turn signal. There's no permissive left turn phase in any case.
