Thursday morning thoughts: How different would things have been if Steven Fromholz stayed on with Stephen Stills after that 1971 tour and joined Manassas instead of going his own way?

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that my friend, Jan Grayson, passed away Sunday night in Louisville after a short illness.

Jan was the former Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, & had been a professor at @depauluniversity.bsky.social.

Just went to the Adam Sandler concert in Lexington. After Kevin James randomly showed up, Sandler pulled out a bass guitar, started playing Ice Ice Baby, and Vanilla Ice came out with a Ninja Turtle. Michelangelo. Great night at Rupp.

As I loaded the dishwasher this morning, my 7 year old son asked, "Dad, does coffee really make everything possible?"

Feeling he was now possibly the wisest of my 3 children, I turned to say yes, then realized he was reading the side of my Thorntons coffee cup from when I grabbed donuts earlier.

Today is our 10th anniversary. Still serious as H-E-Double-Hockeysticks about each other. Thank you for our life and for our three children.

And thanks for saving me:

One of the causes near & dear to me over my near-decade here in Louisville has been the World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana.

I was recently obliged to be a sponsor of WAC's inaugural WorldFest Kick-Off Reception at Galt House, via @idruthergoto.bsky.social

Update on The Man with the Big Hat as we approach the submission deadline for a (hopeful) @sxsw.com premiere.

The score from Larry Nye and VFX from Matthew J. Ross are complete, now on to final passes with our editor extraordinaire, Nevie Owens.

A few more little things to change, but we're close!

I survived multiple hours at the stern of the drift boat, folks.

Glad that my brother-in-law's best friend stayed an extra day after my nephew's wedding in Crested Butte. We both needed a fly fishing refresher.

Good times in Colorado. Back to Kentucky tomorrow.
