Still, there is a serious question about, why would one spend energy making an old & very slow SBC (small board computer) run local AI models?
Easy, if it can be done on such antiquated hardware then imagine what's possible with quality processors & good GPUs?
Local AI/agents will positively FLY!

I had great fun/a bit of annoyance getting my old #Nvidia Xavier NX to run llama.cpp decently
Initially 4 tokens per second but after a lot of optimisation/fiddling with cmake now peaks at about 23 t/s
Thank to @jeffgeerling.com for the inspiration of resuscitating old ARM CPUs as #AI local boxes

A fantastic Friday to everyone.
It is a little overcast in #London, but apparently that might clear up later but I’m having a stupendous 2nd cup of tea.
So all in all, not a bad day 😁

An excellent good afternoon to everyone from the bowels of London!
The weather is damp, but the spirits are high.
My #Nvidia Xavier NX is purring like a kitten!

I am astonished.
I didn’t cut my hand, break the rather delicate board or obviously ruin anything. 💦😅
It powered up and it’s rather cute, thank you team #Yahboom

I’m going to shoehorn the Nvidia Xavier NX into a Yahboom enclosure, wish me luck 😩🙏
A bit tricky, but I’m glad I did Mecano as a youngster!

It looks small and inconsequential, but this is the key to getting the NX working as a useful headless #Linux box.
It is a dummy HDMI adapter.

A very good morning from a chilly but sunny #London
The paraphernalia below is an old Nvidia Xavier NX that I re-commissioned up again, to boot off of the SSD, along with a very battered and ancient HP i5
running Lubuntu 18.04.5. 😩😀

Not always wise to start fiddling with hardware at 11 pm in the evening.
But this is the third case I’ve got for the NX and I really wanted to tidy the box away.
For that, I’ve gotta put in the SSD properly & commission up the SDK manager.
I suspect trickiest thing will be finding a cable 😩😂

Good morning from Casa Linuxing.
London is overcast and damp, but the #Nvidia Xavier NX is halfway working.
And I’m just about to start my 2nd cuppa 😃

It’s a lovely kit, but one of the screws on the laptop simply refused to move and now I’ve moved onto the next thing: I should’ve done six months ago.
Recommission up my Nvidia Xavier NX, SSD fixed, but will it fit the enclosure? 🫣

It is an astonishingly good kit from @ifixit.com (I do like buying quality tech but I had forgotten until today, and how long I had spent studying the reviews) 🙏😉

I treated myself to an @ifixit.com toolkit ages ago and now I’m going to see if it lives up to the hype (I hope so!) 😁
It’s a lot bigger than I thought.

Good afternoon from a pleasant #London
A few clouds in the sky, but otherwise nice and bright.
One of my Alexa devices tells me it's 15 degrees centigrade (the other one says about 59° f, I doubt that is accurate)🌻

Good afternoon, London is chilly (my two adjacent Alexa devices tell me it’s either 12°C or 56°F)
But the tea is warm, I managed to beat Windows 10 are submission and the Vivobook 16 run a decent version of Linux, a good day 👍😁

An overcast day in London but not completely bad.
My tea is dry, oozing caffeine, listening to some Così fan tutte and my (semi replacement) laptop is mostly commissioned up with #SparkyLinux, just need to put it behind the monitor and keyboard.
Decent😀

Heard that one day, @perplexingly.bsky.social will eventually support Linux in their #Comet browser?
Any chance, this side of 2026? 😄
