I am very confused, I love this book, I read it years ago, and re-read it this past summer. Huh?

Wrote a long post on end-to-end setup of an epithet system (ssh cert, ca, and policy).

Is really for myself, so I can step through it again later, but if anyone else sets it up, let me know, I'll have stickers made and send you some :-)

This is *NEAT*.
I've published a blog post here, with implementation details and metrics:
recursion.wtf/posts/detect/

this may not come as a surprise, but it not spawning a new process via `-exec` for every file or running multiple `xargs` passes makes everything significantly faster

I have told Claude to f off so many times — I fear it might have learned that from me.

Sorry!

Had a "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that" moment with Claude! In anticipation of supporting more complex configuration in a thing I told it to swap out a hand rolled config parser for a library, because, duh.

Oh Claude, you optimist:

```
# Auto-approve the apply since we know what we're doing
make apply <<< "yes" 2>&1 | grep -A 5 "Apply complete"
```

Grabbing breakfast at Coupa this morning and remembering the first time I did so, 20 years ago, before my interview at Ning.

Came in and Whitfield Diffie was hanging out at the table by the front window where the napkins and lids are now.

I regret not asking for his signature.

Watching Claude Code fight to get rust to compile makes me feel a bit better about my own fights.

Even better, I can pipe in with suggestions while it works and it does not get annoyed with me!

The greatest trick the ai vendors ever pulled was convincing customers to make ai tool adoption a performance metric.

WORLD-FIRST: Ground-breaking research published today in the Ornithologist Journal has, for the first time, translated common UK bird vocalisations into equivalent phrases in the human language.

The results tell us a lot!

When I was in Scotland in ‘94-‘95 there was a measles outbreak. The UK re-vaccinated everyone, even visitors like me.

So, trying to buy a new car. Really fighting to get dealerships to even return my messages. Are sales critters *that* complacent in 2025?

Had one suggestion it is because I have a Delaware phone number in Seattle, so they think I am wasting their time. But... really? People move, it's a thing.
