The travel sports thing, if you dig deep enough, I'd be willing to bet there's oil influence at its core. I'm half joking. I live in a populous county in a populous state, and yet many weekends we drive to other states for tournaments or other stats drive here, rather than play neighboring towns

Alert broke through silent mode on iPhones. Big NWS fan here but lost trust over this decision and disabled government alerts as a result. Highly invasive to wake a million+ people and carries health consequences too.

@capitalweather.bsky.social can follow up on this and do the journalism rather than stop and posting the controversy? I'd like to understand how the decision is made, who has the authority to authorize the emergency alert. I hope it's above the level of the field office lead forecaster.

Parts definitely feel like allusion to LLMs, but why would everyone being equally capable lead to loss of creativity? Having the sum total of world knowledge at hand should lead to creative breakthroughs.

Why did the pink and blue lines switch? Like the highest earners in 1990 shifted down a quintile by 2025 while the 60-80% earners became the highest earners. Is that age effect showing on incomes?

I mean it's backed by nothing, was invented out of thin air, you can't spend it like cash... support at $0?

Ok clearly a risk for THEM. The mixed feelings I have about AI lean kinda optimistic that if the DoorDash problem is real, maybe we'll finally get that early web promise -- consumers with near perfect information directly paying producers and what that opens up for us.

At first "The DoorDash Problem" made sense. Now it doesn't. What's the problem?

DoorDash doesn't make sandwiches. If AI agents, or just better apps, disintermediate sandwich delivery ... isn't that the point? Wasn't an early, lofty goal of the Internet to cut out all the skimming middlemen?

That would actually an okay outcome too

Do not like. But quite a find!

What are the better alternatives?

Don't worry, my experience was pure sleep deprived chaos for a while but also totally worth it! Congratulations!!!
