Morning breaks on the Eastern slopes of the Rockies like a wave of fire when the sun is still below the horizon, but the early sunlight is bent towards red and orange by the atmosphere.

“Queen’s Gambit – Ellery Big Hole.”

Our West Coast home is a world away from the hot desert surrounding Alice Springs, Australia.  Hidden within this landscape are a number of natural swimming holes.  My favourite was the Ellery Big Hole. 1/

I loved the way the hills rise so quickly from the farmlands as you pass by on the Trans-Canada. Also the colour contrast between the dry hills and the irrigated fields.
