Unfortunately, moving an 80yr old out of the 4 bedroom home into a cute little retirement community is often a big increase to their monthly living expenses. Their home is likely paid off.

Yeah, almost feels like a setup! 🤣

I think this is mainly a result of industry consolidation / monopolies. Smaller businesses have to care more about their impacts on, and benefits to, their customers to stay in operation.

That would be epic! Brings back such memories!
