There should be no surpise about why that bridge lands in modern GOP.
for example

Working class jobs were relocated from US by US capital.
The USright tells US working class that they lost jobs because "woke agenda" meant that lower qualifed women/black/immigrants have been given preference - MAGA believes this, (& the IT).

There is no woke agenda.
There is an antiwoke agenda.

One slight quibble: The essentials of liberal democracies are disliked by the current-US-govt because they are restraints on what that curr-US-govt wants to achieve.
Curr-US-govt happily lies about a "liberal constitution plot", there is no evidence that it believes in the lie.

Contrast between being "treated with dignity from the start" and the concept of original sin in our western culture.
