My kids named my van the Millennium Falcon, so I felt it would be fun to label her with the name.

Slicers have gotten so good at customizing models that I designed these in @FreeCAD specifically to be easily customized using slicer primitives and is printable […]

I built up this Trident about a year ago now and I’m still so happy with it.

It’s not the best at anything but it’s pretty damn good at everything I’ve asked it to do and it’s been a reliable workhorse.

If you’re DIY printer curious, I recommend it. There’s […]

A lot of people have done versions of this tool, but none of them were right for my calipers or the magnets I had on hand.

And worse: None of them used an open CAD format that I could edit to correct that.

Here is my libre version of a radius tool for the […]

If you're coming to @FreeCAD from other CAD packages and are missing pockets that are offset from the sketch plane, here's a trick.

For these magnet pockets I wanted them 3mm deep but offset .5mm from the top surface.

You can do that by doing a two dimension […]

Fellow 3D printing nerds of the internet, hear my call:

Is there a better way to set elephant's foot compensation than guess and check?

I'm printing pretty perfect first layers on my voron but have a bit of elephant's foot and I'm here just futzing with […]

As an example: here is me inducing the error 3 times and moving the @FreeCAD window between my monitors showing the different placement of the error each time.

Is it possible to dock or otherwise reposition the notification window in @FreeCAD ?

I like the notifications, but I can't stand that the window just seems to appear wherever it wants, and I cannot seem to find a remedy in the documentation other than turning […]

Autodesk unceremoniously and opaquely didn’t renew my Fusion for Startups account. Some models I rely on were drawn in there…

It’s time to see if I can properly commit to @FreeCAD

I’m starting by redrawing some of my easier fusion models before I jump into […]

My kids decided that this die has mystical fortune telling abilities and have been asking it to prognosticate.

We’ll see if their theory holds true… the die tells me it’s not going to go well for them.

The other day @signal9 posted a cool D2 they were resin printing and I wanted one that was FDM printable.

Here it is. Now you need never make a decision again!

A couple of cute gnomes to replace some board game pieces my kids lost.

Does this count as a functional print?

Bees are enjoying a warmer day and a momentary break from the rain.

We’re deep into a weird shoulder season but winter is rapidly approaching.

Went to go wire up my doorbell after removing my doorbell camera and found that this transformer was unloaded but somehow also hot to the touch at 140F/60C

That didn’t seem reasonable so I replaced it with a new one…

…a new one that hums annoyingly.

The […]

I’ve been stressing about my bees. They just have insatiable hunger lately and had really low honey weights. Last October they wouldn’t touch food

Well… I said I would post when I screwed it up.

Wanted to get the water off the parts so the next jar was 99% IPA

That also went smoothly and the IPA looked just as it did at the beginning.

I took the parts out and placed them on paper to dry briefly then back to the tray to await assembly.

I need a […]

The DI water was another story.

Completely clouded. I couldn’t see a thing to remove the parts and had to fumble around and strain the DI water through cheese cloth.

I really need to count how many parts go in the bath, and I need to work on a basket for inserting and removing them.

Disassembly was pretty easy. I was a little more nimble with the tweezers than I anticipated and the set of Kong Yuen screwdrivers I bought held the screws nicely and pivoted smoothly and easily.

I got everything separated into compartments and ready for cleaning.
