Something that can get overlooked in the many advantages of native plants is that they bloom and mature in line with the seasonal cycles of the critters that need them. Oregon grapes and red flowering currant provide early forage for pollinators and nectar for hummingbirds.

Also, tried my first fresh coconut meat and coconut water AND had homemade coconut milk in my local coffee. I don't even drink coffee anymore, but I could get used to this. 🥥☕️🌴

Hiked about 7 miles across Volcano NP today including Kilauea Iki Crater, lava tube, steam vents, and sulphur banks. I missed the huge lava flows but the Goddess Pele honored me with a little show by the time the sun went down. 🔥🥾🙏
