On UHC and free education: "These ideas-these easy, inarguable, wins for civilization-are not new. They are expensive, yes. And complicated, yes. But they were never impossible. They have simply been left on the table through greed, through moral cowardice. And Doom suffers from neither affliction."

In "One World Under Doom" (2025), Latveria annexes Earth and the first things Doom does are 1)Start the process of ending international (now technically civil) wars. 2)Implement universal healthcare and free education globally. 3)Kill a bunch of Nazis while riding a Doom-armored dinosaur.

What a wiener.

Doing something like the NBA where winning your division only guarantees the playoff spot, not a seed, would probably make more sense than giving a 9-loss team a home game.

However, since this also would have prevented the Beastquake, I am spiritually obligated to reject this idea too.

My favorite thing about taking my guinea pigs to the exotic pet vet is the wonderful variety of other patients you meet in the waiting room.

One highlight was the lady with two sugar gliders making a noise like one of those gyroscope toys.

I'm in a similar boat, I'm a year older than him but if I shaved my graying-ass beard, I could probably pass for 10 years younger at least just because of how busted and ghoulish he looks.

I'm 41 and she looks older than many of the women I grew up with.

Evil is one hell of a drug.

If it helps clarify, NY appears to use 1st degree murder for its highest degree of murder, one with aggravating factors. In other states, that might be aggravated or capital murder, with murder 1 being the 2nd highest degree (somewhat closer to NY's murder 2, though that's an imperfect analogy.)
September 18, 2025 at 6:31 AM
It probably is, but NY (and most states) felony murder doctrine tends to be more limited than that. It looks in New York its limited to robbery, burglary, arson, kidnapping, and sexual assault. And for some of those, only certain degrees thereof.
September 18, 2025 at 6:09 AM
NY's first degree murder is relatively narrow. It applies to murder-for-hire, terrorism, murders committed while already serving a life sentence, murder in the course of some other felonies, if the victim was a cop/judge/prosecutor/witness, or if the victim was tortured.

I had a Facebook friend who described that as "the phrase Kirk had spent his whole lifetime longing to hear." So I'm pretty sure it is a Deathcult Christianity thing.

I'm holding out hope that this may actually be a case of malicious compliance.

From MLB rule 5.09(b)(1)
"A runner’s base path is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely"

The big circles would only work if the catcher either doesn't have the ball or isn't trying to tag him.

*I say almost any path because if the runner does something silly enough the ump might call him out for "making a travesty of the game" rather than for leaving his basepath.
