Hmmm, this seems counterintuitive to any economics book I've ever read? I hear the goal is "Economic Realingment," well I say call it what it is on TV, stop bullshitting people by saying it's a tax cut.
Literally “up is down”
Peter Navarro goes full Orwell on Fox News Sunday: "The message is that tariffs are tax cuts."

So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?
International tourism is worth $200 billion every year to the US economy.

Sorry, *was.

With 25% auto tariffs:

*Motor vehicle prices rise by 13.5% on average, the equivalent of an additional $6,400 to the price of an average new 2024 car.

*The price level rises by 0.3-0.4%, the equivalent of an average per household consumer loss of $500 - 600 in 2024$.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

One question investors and all Americans have to ask is whether the administration is willing to risk recession to effect the kind of economic change they believe is warranted. I think their lack of concern with the large stock market losses could be a proxy for their lack
of concern on the economy.

For the first time in 10 years, a child has died from measles in the United States.

Vaccines prevent measles.

Americans need to hear our top health officials say clearly: every child in America should get vaccinated against this terrible disease.

Welcome to the trade war. Unambiguously started by the United States. This is why you can’t bank on the Fed coming to the rescue. It has no idea when the tariff wars end and when and how they will impact prices.

I think it’s wrong to think of the problem with tariffs as the lack of clarity in the policy. That’s just a part of it. The real problem w/ tariffs is that widespread and high tariffs are bad economic policy. Clarity on what a bad policy will be doesn’t make the policy good.
