Even 2-4 paragraphs, you gotta really read it closely and then plan your reply to make sure you aren't dropping any threads and also are opening opportunities for future conversation! And if you make a mistake, with ink and quill or whatever? That's your whole dang day!!

While reading historical romance I sometimes used to roll my eyes at people saying correspondence was what took up the majority of their time, but I have a friend I'm doing multi-paragraph emails with about stuff and it takes me like forty five minutes per reply with a keyboard/backspace!!
