You can't overlook the fact that many students learn Latin vocab through etymology, and "debt" the easy one there. It's hard to remember "ought" if you do vocab this way. Also, many of the typical high school textbooks don't spend much time with infinitive constructions apart from possum and volo.

I’ve had to debunk this several times at the start of the school year with my freshmen. And if I recall, there’s not agreement that Numa’s calendar had only ten months, just that he moved the start from March to January. Crazy that there’s disagreement about what a mythical person did.
