Woken up at 7:15 by 20-30 sulphur crested white cockatoos descending noisily into my orchard - went out in my dressing gown and scared them off. Next time I’ll try to think of grabbing a camera.

Island on dam made using a pontoon with local native plants in pots suspended in dam and soil on top to plant into when watering system arrives.

Island on dam made using a pontoon with local native plants in pots suspended in dam and soil on top to plant into when watering system arrives.
Spotted a water scorpion (Laccotrephes tristis) near a water milfoil the ducks haven’t destroyed yet. Happy with how clear the water in the dam is.

Getting started on the floating island for native vegetation in my home dam - a way to solve the problem of changing water levels for the plants - pots will be suspended around the pontoon.
