So where does Bomberman fall into this? Alternate universe?

Thanks for the high quality source!

I have to wonder if the reason for the lack of a new re-release is due to the unique chips that contain the speech audio heard in-game. That part of the game hasn't properly been preserved yet and Virtual Console got around this with pre-recorded audio files.

Oh Arino...

On one hand I really miss this western localization but on the other hand they were baffling representations of the games in question. It is probably easier to just use the same cover worldwide anyways.

If you want to actually see new stuff in your home page, you have to click the "New to you" button which of course is hidden at the very end of the list. Can I just have this be my default? Is that really too much to ask for these days?

I don't usually complain that much but holy heck YouTube let me watch things from other channels good lord. Their default recommendations have gotten so bad in recent years. Seeing this makes me want to close YouTube and do something else.

Just to make this clear Nintendo's game has absolutely nothing to do with the actual Tiger-Heli game released for Famicom and NES which was by notorious developer Micronics.

This game is also briefly mentioned in an NES brochure from 1985 as "Helifighter" which was reportedly given out during the initial test launch. An updated brochure from 1986 omits the game from this list which presumably is after it got shelved.

A screenshot had recently surfaced of the unreleased Famicom game Heri Fighter which was set to be published by Nintendo in January 1986 with a retail price of 4,900 yen. It is basically a clone of the arcade game Tiger-Heli by Toaplan.
It is still unknown why this went unreleased.

Thought it was also worth mentioning that the Doraemon artwork used in the magazine was also used for the cover art for the Japanese Mega Drive game. I wouldn't be surprised if this is where they sourced it from since it released in May 1993.

The description of platform levels does match up with the Doraemon games released for the Super Famicom and I assume the first game would have been localized since the second game wouldn't release in Japan until December 1993. Regardless, nothing Doraemon related ended up releasing outside of Japan.

About a year ago, I was skimming through the UK's Nintendo Magazine System and issue 10 from July 1993 had an interesting blurb regarding a Doraemon game being released for the SNES by Kemco. Presumably this likely would have been a localization of the first Super Famicom game by Epoch.

I posted about this on Discord and unintentionally became the first* underground meme of 2026. So here's a thread of some of my favorites starting with the original.

This is very cute box art, although had this released in the US they would have likely "westernized" it like they did with Fantasy Zone. Oh well...

I am going to be holding a Marble Madness (NES) tournament at GameOnExpo 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona. Highest score wins 100 bucks. This will be held as a side tournament for the Retro Championships 2026.

Just got done building the Lego Game Boy, pretty fun build that I would recommend for those wanting to kill a few hours and have a neat decoration.

10. Getting over 100 members in the Discord server. Okay this last one is a bit of a silly goal but I'm including it anyways to see if we can achieve it. Don't be afraid to say hi when you join!
