Thanks, I appreciate it.

Trolls can be good for practicing on, nothing real at stake. It's good to make sure I can present my facts calmly and clearly, and then get on with my life. It's nice.

I hope you're having a great night! Your reply made me smile.

I respect your right to choose, as I expect you to respect mine and others' rights to choose to limit your access to their spaces on their own terms, if you don't agree to those terms. You want in the house, you follow the house rules. That is what respecting free choice costs.

...hence why I included a simple structure of enforcement as an example, in the message you replied to. You're free to enjoy the benefits of population immunity, but there are and will be places you cannot go if you cannot provide evidence that you have the prerequisites established for entry.

I don't think you're guilty. Your language indicates you're relying on herd immunity to keep disease down. To my mind, that shows your dependence on the compliance of others to keep yourself safe. I suppose I'm fine with that, as I am with ppl using welfare services that I pay for but don't use.

Correct!

Schools require it for general access. If you want to work in a school or attend a school, or have regular unfettered access to high exposure areas, you gotta play the game. There are exceptions and that's allowable to a certain % and for low-exposure environments.

I didn't say that it's reasonable to enforce, I said that it's reasonable to require. However, enforcement is a matter of access control, and knowing if you're vaccinated is just record-keeping, and has an expected % of inaccuracy (from fraud or mistake) but can generally be used to manage risk.

If we did, it would be quite bad. These diseases are very damaging and affect child development. That's why vaccination is required to participate in the high exposure environment of schools. I'm not telling you you have to be vaccinated, just that it's reasonable to require it for certain places.

Don't waste your characters on insults, I'm treating you and your positions with respect, please do the same.

We don't have adult mumps numbers, but in children it's between 80 and 93%. This doesn't result in outbreaks (yet) because we don't have significant mumps reservoirs in US atm.

It is absolutely your choice to be vaccinated or not. It's also reasonable for certain aspects of society to require you to be vaccinated to participate.

Population immunity % varies by pathogen, but it's much more than 60%. Closer to 95%, dependent on a lot of other environmental factors.

We do cope, with modern medicine, preventive immunization, and disease management. These are well-documented best practices for Public Health.

Unvaccinated populations are a mechanism for storage, accelerated mutation, and evolution of pathogens. Same niche as disease reservoir populations in animals.

These pathogen variants are then able to test against vaccinated communities until one catches.

I downloaded the app so I could get a data archive. I couldn't figure out when I started following the terrible content creators whose posts I was seeing. Turns out they were just "suggested" for me. That, and sooooo many ads!
