We're gearing up for Gamehole Con and PAX Unplugged later this year and it's very tempting to show off some of the new art we've got for upcoming projects...

What do you think? Should we share some sneak peeks?

We need stories of heroism, bravery, and justice now more than ever.

Step into a world filled with heroes and begin telling your own story.

Three vignettes depicting superheroes. The first vignette is of a hero and a villain locked in combat. The hero wears blue and gold, and is flipping through the air wielding blue orbs of electricity, while the villain wears a suit and is blasting flames into the air. The second vignette depicts two heroes fighting side by side against unseen enemies. The first hero wears yellow and black and holds a yellow sword, while the second hero wears purple spandex and is delivering a swift kick to an enemy out of frame. The third vignette is of a hero dressed in black tactical gear, looking out over the city skyline with a hand to her earpiece communicator.

Paragons
Since the dawn of time, there have been people with unique abilities. We call them paragons. Their powers have shaped the course of history and changed our understanding of what it means to be human. ...

Right now, if you pick up a copy of the Paragons Core Rulebook, you can get $5 off 'Space Metal', the sample scenario.

This bundle allows you to start your very own story in the world of Paragons! Now is the perfect time to try a new superhero TTRPG.

After a very busy month, we're finally making some exciting progress on the next project!

Follow along for more TTRPG projects from an indie publishing company. 💜

We're working on our next big project!

When we reach 300 followers here on bluesky, we'll post a preview of what Broken Door's next TTRPG publishing project will be.

Can you help us hit that goal?

A key design philosophy for Paragons: The Roleplaying Game is that there is no such thing as "too many dice"

So today we'd like to call on all tabletop gamers to buy a set of dice (preferably from an indie dice maker)!

Abilities are completely separate from character archetypes!

You get to pick two abilities at level 1, so you have multiple options right away. 🙂

So at level 1 you can take an ability like teleportation, and later on, you can take an improved teleportation ability, or something else entirely.
brokendoorgames.bsky.social
LOL, that feels very "play against type" and it's a fun idea!
brokendoorgames.bsky.social
There's so much you can do with teleportation that I think people often forget about!

What type of hero would you make for a new TTRPG campaign?

These are all pretty sweet powers!

What powers would a hero who ate radioactive shrimp get? Just wondering.

Our plan for TTRPG Domination:

Step 1: Sell out of Paragons (it's a dream, but we believe)
Step 2: Hire really smart people to make good games
Step 3: Keep making cool and fun games forever
Step 4: Profit? Put that back into hiring more cool people

If you would like to help get the word out about Indie rpgs, one of the best things you can do is run them for people you do not know. I run games for underserved populations in libraries, bookstores, youth centers, wherever anyone will have me. Volunteer to run games in your communities.

In some of the pre-written episodes (adventure modules) that we have in-development, we offer additional suggestions for how you can use training to enhance your Paragon's abilities!

If that sounds interesting to you, check out the game! brokendoor.shop/pages/paragons

This section of rules was heavily inspired by animated superhero shows with training montages that lead to a hero "leveling up" metaphorically.

Shows like My Hero Academia, Teen Titans, Invincible, feature montages like this, allowing the heroes to develop their skills.

Let's talk about Training in Paragons: The Roleplaying Game!

By making a Stamina move roll (equivalent to an ability check) you push your body to improve one of your abilities. Over time, you can increase an ability's range, damage, number of uses, and even invent new special moves!
Two heroes, fighting back to back against an unseen group of attackers. One hero, in purple spandex is kicking off to the right, where something has shattered. The other hero, on the left, wears a yellow suit and is holding a blade at the ready. A screenshot of a PDF with text that reads "Training. One very beneficial way to spend downtime is by training. Taking time to practice and enhance your paragon's abilities or talents is a great way to make them uniquely your own. Training pushes your body past its normal limits, and requires a Stamina move roll. The GM determines how many successes a paragon needs to accumulate before their training is complete, and can use the following as a guide.
Easy. Three Successes required. Increase the number of uses (e.g. 4 uses per episode instead of 3).
Medium. Six successes required. Increase range by one category (e.g. Close to Near).
Hard. Nine successes required. Increase the number of ability dice by 1.
Difficult. Twelve successes required. Increase the number of people you can target with an ability (e.g. attacking two enemies at once with Energy Control). Develop a new way to use the ability (e.g. using Energy Mastery over fire to propel yourself through the air to simulate flight.)
You can also use a training scene with a mentor as part of the leveling up process for characters to showcase new abilities or improved stats that come from their level up. No roll is required for this kind of training scene."
