A lonely progressive in remote Australia hyperfocusing on the federal election.
I'm still using Vote Compass as a conversation starter with my immediate family, but I don't think it's a particularly useful tool to share with apathetic voters this year. Crossing my fingers that Build a Ballot will fill the gap when it's released in a couple of weeks. www.buildaballot.org.au

So if she was a Labor supporter, or an undecided or ambivalent voter with a stigma against the Greens as a "radical left party", that dot would serve as confirmation bias. To me that seems to defeat the purpose of the Vote Compass.

Also, the political landscape chart seems to tell a different story to the alignment chart and imo does the Greens a disservice. By positioning them so far to the left my sister who agrees 72% with the Greens, 42% with Labor & 33% with the LNP has her dot hovering juuust above Labor's.

These poorly chosen questions will likely skew the majority's results to the conservative side. For DEI, a better question to reflect how the average joe feels about the category overall would be whether access to flexible work arrangements like working from home should be increased or decreased.

Some of the Vote Compass questions especially the ones about Jan 25 and trans people in sports seem to have been selected from Dutton's talking points rather than the issues that are most relevant to voters this election.
