hey! does anyone want to buy my book? it comes in beautiful hardcover or the charming newly updated ebook with fresh artwork!

BUT HOW ARE YOU, REALLY is about two exes who have big time unfinished business at their five year college reunion.

The hardcover artwork of But How Are You, Really by Ella Dawson. A thick cream frame borders an illustration of the right side of a woman’s torso. She wears a denim jacket with a pin of the bisexual flag on the breast pocket, and a red name tag that reads, “A NOVEL, Ella Dawson.” Her blond ponytail is tucked behind the collar of her jacket. In the top left of the cover, cream text reads, “Can a college reunion restart your life?” The title of the book is centered in bright neon pink, “But How Are You, Really”.
the paperback artwork for But How Are You Really displayed on an iPad screen. It features a woman and a man walking toward each other on a college quad at night, an academic building in the background

Why should you read Chloe Angyal's romance novels?

Four words for you: Sexy. Unionized. Ballet. Dancers.

“Ballet is a tradition-bound and hierarchical culture. One of those traditions is a top-down structure of authority. At the bottom of the hierarchy, you have a huge number of talented, motivated young people; way more of them than could ever possibly succeed. At the top, you have a very small number of decision-making people, almost all of them men. The sense of obedience and adherence to tradition is instilled in you every time you walk into a ballet studio. That's the kind of environment that breeds abuse of power.” - Chloe Angyal

Great podcast episode about a romance novel I loved (Pointe of Pride by Chloe Angyal). Great, accurate rep of vaginismus, +it’s super hot.

I have vaginismus (mostly recovered but it’s still a factor for me during s3x); I wrote a review of this book a while back: lajayne.com/2024/07/book...

This week on Rebel Ever After, how Chloe Angyal wrote a high-steam romance novel without any penetrative s3x in POINTE OF PRIDE.

“Then I was like, ‘I think I'm writing an entire high-heat contemporary romance with absolutely no vaginal penetration in it?’ I took the mission very seriously to make it as hot as humanly possible. It was important to me because there is a sense that vaginal penetration is the only ‘real’ sex. That it’s the kind of sex that ‘counts,’ that you can't have a fulfilling sex life without it, and that you will be perceived as ‘lacking’ as a partner if you can't provide it. It was really important to me to counter that narrative." - Chloe Angyal

Chloe is a pal so I am biased, but her books are tightly paced capital-R romance that manage dislike-to-lovers in a way that's "we see the world differently and will oppose each other until we don't," that is a bit of a rare find in contemporary books.

This week's episode of Rebel Ever After features brilliant journalist and romance author Chloe Angyal! The third book in her Dancers Down Under trilogy comes out October 11th.

“It is always difficult to read about your own industry in fiction. There are so often inaccuracies that take you out of it. In some cases, there are gross violations of ethics take you out of it. It's not okay to sleep with a source if you’re a journalist, but it's a trope in pop culture and it drives me absolutely berserk. I think it undermines women in the profession, and it undermines people's trust in journalism." -Chloe Angyal

Buckle up, nerds, she's running for president.

MTG has been quietly positioning herself to be Trump's heir apparent. On paper, her moves have been savvy.

But there's one big reason it won't work. (Not a request for guesses. Read to find out!)

When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.
