The most powerful advice that changed how I write:
You don't need to tell the reader 'she looked/glanced' just what they are seeing. Whatever the main character is seeing just describe it. The reader already know the MC is looking at that thing'

I'm learning how to love writing again. When I joined the bird app, it stole my ability to write without comparison and being innundated by Fandom's hatred of fan writers. Lets hope this app doesn't have that.

I finished The Bone Ship's Wake. And that ending. Ugh, it just.... it feels like both an end and a beginning all at once.

The best line I've ever said came from a man's unwelcomed hand my thigh. "If you don't remove that hand I'll turn those 27 bones into 54."
It taught me the power of precision for threats. The more descriptive, the better. "Ill kill you" vs. "I'll turn you into mince meat for my dogs".

I write fanfiction to sharpen my story telling skills. I write RPs to practice my character creation. Then I blend the two together in my own novels.

I'm eyeing substack thinking to myself, I could put up some tasty bits up there. But then I realize I have ro read the terms and condition just in case writing 'beating the meat sac bleeding out on the curb it bit' is against the rules.

I love the concept of Vaporization in Sci-Fi stories. I love it even more when I create a liquid based lifeforms that when they turn gaseous start looking for way to condense down...a good mix of the horror of mist and the idea of being /inside/ a creature.

Back on my writing practice. Which is basically me using a comic as the structure, slapping my two favorite characters, and write out the scenes and the expressions in words. I don't have to think of where the story needs to go, thus I focus on /showing/ the art in Prose form.

When I struggle to write, I shift gears to editing what I wrote previously to give my mind a chance to enjoy and focus on a different part of the creative process instead of trying to force it.

Finally grabbed Bone Ship's Wake. I check it out from my local library and had to return it when I was half way through. If you like pirates with adjacent dragons, the Bone Ship series is a good read. Also it's queer so do with that what you will.
