We will stand strong where others back down. We will not pander to Reform.

We will fight to protect our environment, stand up for decency and the rule of law, and stop Trump’s America from becoming Farage’s Britain.

If you share those values, now is the time to join the Liberal Democrats.
Ed Davey writes to disillusioned conservatives:
Dear friends,

Our country is at a crossroads.

The Conservative Party under Kemi Badenoch is becoming more extreme and out of touch, chasing Nigel Farage instead of focusing on the issues that really matter to people. Meanwhile, Reform UK is growing in strength - threatening the tolerant, decent values that hold our communities together.

I know many One Nation Conservatives are deeply concerned about the lurch to the hard right in our country and under Kemi Badenoch’s leadership. Her plans to tear up the Climate Change Act and withdraw from the ECHR show she is abandoning traditional British values of tolerance, decency and the rule of law.

So my message to the millions of One Nation Conservatives who feel let down by their party and reject the divisive politics of Badenoch and Farage is to come and join us. Help us save our country and defend the values we all hold dear.

We will stand strong where others back down. We will not pander to Reform. We will fight to protect our environment, stand up for decency and the rule of law, and stop Trump’s America from becoming Farage’s Britain.

So if you share those values, now is the time to join the Liberal Democrats.

With best wishes,

Ed Davey

After a lifetime supporting Labour I joined the Lib Dems, I still like and respect many in Labour, I love one, my wife! But I became increasingly frustrated with the top down management of Labour. I want an evidence based, non dogmatic, non vested interests, compassionate politics. Join us.

Robert Jenrick thinks that he can tell how well integrated someone is based on the colour of their skin.

That appalling prejudice should have been called out by his leader, but she is too weak.

The Conservatives are becoming indistinguishable from Reform.
libdems.org.uk
People like Robert Jenrick and Nigel Farage are increasingly looking at people who are not white and suggesting that they can't be British.

That in itself is fundamentally un-British.

There are people right across our country, who have voted Conservative all their lives, but are now switching to the Liberal Democrats.
YouGov Poll - Liberal Democrats draw level with the Conservatives - both parties on 17%.

Farage has caused so much damage to our country.
And yet he is never held accountable.

Ed Davey, "It's so frustrating, so infuriating that Nigel Farage gets such an easy ride from the media"

"As he lies, as he divides, the BBC and others given Farage so much time and attention"

"But they never hold him to account for all the damage he has already done"

"The damage of Brexit"

Proud of our leader.
Musk must be condemned for his inflammatory remarks.
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday.

As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.
Letter from Ed Davey to Keir Starmer condemning Elon Musk for inciting violence and urging unity to defend democracy.

Daisy is so right.
Here in Nottingham, Reform has tried to silence the Post from asking questions about their administration of Notts County Council.

We are different from Reform. We are community politicians, we get things done in our local areas.

We care about the NHS and care, whereas other parties like Reform stay silent.

Ed is right. We need to rebuild trust with our friends in the EU.
Negotiating a Customs Union with them is a good first step which we can make while taking the British people with us.

We're now ahead of the Tories in the polls.

We beat the Conservatives at the local elections. Now we're ahead in today's YouGov poll.

Liberal Democrats are on track to overtake the Conservatives at the next General Election.

This deal doesn't require joining the CU or SM.
That would be better, but this deal would at least mean we had the economic growth to avoid cuts to welfare.
We hope @julietcampbellmp.bsky.social will join us in supporting it.
vikkislademp.bsky.social
I hope that Labour MPs will support this & that we will support those Labour MPs calling for change to the welfare proposals.
Let’s grow the nation so we can support the sick not hurt the sick and limit growth because of a botched deal thanks to the failed Tories

Today is IDAHoBiT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia. This year it hits particularly hard.

We need to do better: as a society, as a Party, and as individuals. We have a great record, but can't rest on our laurels. We're in the fight to do better, and won't let up. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️💛

A youth mobility scheme is win-win, and it's not even free movement (despite what Farage, the Tories and right wing press say).
Get it done.
libdems.org.uk
We have repeatedly called for a youth mobility scheme with the EU. Labour have flip flopped, afraid of Reform and Farage.

In these uncertain times we must rebuild our broken relationship with Europe.

It's up to us to be the antidote to the hate, division and dangerous populism.

Trump has hit the Falklands with 42% tariffs in an outrageous act of aggression. This cannot be allowed to stand.

The Prime Minister should invite the Falklands Governor for an urgent meeting to discuss how to fight back and protect their jobs and businesses.

Ed is right as ever.
We can't rely on the US while Trump is in power.
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
By suspending all military aid to Ukraine, Donald Trump has humiliated the people who pretended he was a reliable ally only in search of peace.

The UK and Europe must seize frozen Russian assets to resist Putin’s unjust and savage war.

Everyone was appalled by Trump's disgraceful attack on Zelensky – except Nigel Farage, of course.

Trump is not a reliable ally against Russia, so I am proud that the UK is leading with our European and Commonwealth allies for Ukraine's defence and our collective security.

It’s so clear - this was never about whether Zelensky wore a suit.

Trump and Farage are angry Ukraine dared to stand up to Putin in the first place and won’t surrender to him now.
A screenshot of a Truth Social post by Donald J. Trump:

"This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer! It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?"

Underneath, a "World News" headline:

"Ukraine’s Zelenskyy says end of war with Russia is ‘very, very far away’"
broxtowelibdems.bsky.social
Ed's right. Zelensky deserves at least this honour.
If we can't uninvite Trump to his state visit we must honour Zelensky as much as possible.
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
The Prime Minister should show British leadership on Ukraine by inviting President Zelenskyy to address Parliament on Monday.

I'm proud that the UK has been Ukraine's staunchest ally from the start. We mustn't falter in the face of Trump's bullying now.

Slava Ukraini
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple.

They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.
broxtowelibdems.bsky.social
Grown-up politics.
Contrast with the LOTO who spends her time waging culture wars.
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
Trump is on the brink of betraying Ukraine and the UK.

Britain must lead in Europe by increasing defence spending immediately and all political parties should get round the table to make that happen.

I fear what happens if we don't take this step.
