New wheel day. Industry Nine 1/1 GRCX with Gravelking SS 40mm tan walls. Hands hurt from trying to get the tires on, and broke a tire lever as well. Cassette installation was also a challenge for some reason. Done though, and hoping for a first ride next weekend. #bikesky

Dry run mounting the bike on the trainer. Hoping to get outside this weekend for a long ride, but it's getting cold, especially in the mornings before work when it's light out. #bikesky

Oc-two-berfest

Two imperial centuries this month. Today's started at 35°F with 20mi of thick fog and frost on two bridge decks. Just 44mi left for 500mi on the month. #bikesky

I'm pretty happy, although pretty sore. Highlight of the trip was a guy in front of me carrying a Pomeranian in his backpack. Sort of a canine rear radar. "Bark back!"

Our annual biketouring Great Allegheny Passage trail ride was last weekend. We rode 150mi over 3-1/2 days from Pittsburgh, PAto Cumberland, MD. It was awesome! I've ridden in fog, but this was a first riding in the clouds at 2000+ feet.

Saw this one grazing next to the Great Allegheny Passage trail below Kennywood Park in #Pittsburgh.

Not to be confused with a relative who hangs by Boston PA and channels the Black Knight from Monty Python. "None shall pass!"

So what I do is keep my thumb side of my hand on the hood, but open my hand up horizontally off the bar, sort of like when we put our hands out the car window as kids. Then I flex my hand into a concave position, fingers upward. After a few seconds, the numbness is gone.

At mile 58 of 72, hanging out with the spotted lanternflies and groundhog nation, while refilling water and listening to "Renegade" playing in the distance from Kennywood's Steel Curtain ride.

I don't ride Pedal Pittsburgh or other group rides as I am not familiar with group ride signaling and etiquette, so I just solo ride.

Today was a 72mi solo, and I'm over 500mi for the month and am at 1996mi for the year.

The trail I ride all the time has a spot where people gather to look for bald eagles. Great Allegheny Passage/Three Rivers Heritage Trail in Pittsburgh.

Post-ride multi-fisted refueling.

Electrolytes, weissbier, diet coke, jazz brunch.

August has been nice so far, but the high heat and humidity are around the corner. Got to get the miles in while I can.

Let's go Pittsburgh! Fight PWSA's proposed 35% rate increase! Attend an upcoming public hearing and make your voice heard.

1. A PWSA contractor illegally changed water treatment chemicals and caused the lead line replacement debacle. They want us to pay for the repair work to fix it.

It's brutal like the Sofa King out there. Thunderstorms forced a later ride, cut short by ungodly humidity and an insect sting above my knee. Limped back from the trail only to be close passed by a jagoff who had to beat me to a red light 500ft from home. Glad to be home.
