Interesting thing about the Blu-rays is that they're transparent. I have one CD in my collection that's also transparent, "A1. Raster-Noton. Archiv 1", a compilation included with The Wire issue 238 in December 2003,

Happy #CDFriday

Those Talking Heads CD/Blu-ray books are beasts. Shockingly large and heavy.

New book at my library, @mspal-umd.bsky.social. "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is a mid-1900s folk song made popular by singer-songwriter John Denver. It was written by Denver together with Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert. Danoff is best known for writing the 1976 sex anthem "Afternoon Delight".

Anyone need something from the Cawcaw?

It’s #CDFriday! It’s #CDMadness!

Just a ridiculous haul the past few weeks. Couldn’t scratch that itch hard enough. Didn’t mean to buy mostly Cherry Red stuff but they’re doing what Rhino used to do, only far better.

Fun cover for the latest Music Educators Journal, September 2025, but no credit is given and it doesn’t seem to apply to any of the content.

Just too much fun! All four members are still alive.

Can’t believe how many Cocteau Twins CDs I didn’t have. The Blue Bell Knoll 33 1/3 book prompted this purchase.

Now that I’ve acquired The Roches WB output, fully restored reissues should be announced soon.

My landlord’s band where she’s principal clarinet. Plus the orchestra features two former student workers at my library, Daniel Shomper on cello and Jose Luis Oviedo on trumpet.

Mercy Seat was a “punk gospel” band featuring Gordon Gano.

@robinjames.bsky.social just got a 33 1/3 commission for The Breeders “Last Splash”.

Holy shit were they young.

Hadn’t done a #CDFriday in forever. This is the past month’s or so quarry.

Raised: Hammer mansion

Current: "The City"

First is kinda easy. The second is definitely more cryptic but the quotes give a clue.

Sam Phillips as Katya in "Die Hard With A Vengeance". She also did a cameo in Wim Wender's "The End of Violence" but I can't find any screenshots.

Magazines to check out if you’re into underground music and/or music technology.

Next Gramophone features Arvo Pärt.

Peter Gabriel's fourth album, aka "Security". Bought new for $20 at the long-defunct high-end stereo store Audio Krafters in College Park, Maryland (nowadays, it's a Blaze Pizza, very unfortunately).

An immaculate used copy of the 2004 reissue of Snap!, complete on CD for the first time. CDs 1 & 2 replicate the original 2-LP set while CD 3 contains the four live songs on the 7” EP included with initial LP copies.

Is that a Westminster record? They had some notorious covers in the 70s. Like this one:
