I'll be wrapping up my Norse-themed Tarot Card set with the Minor Arcana. Here's a preview of things to come, showcasing the Suit of Cups. The Wands, Swords, and Coins will follow suit in the near future.

In traditional Tarot suits, cups relate to the element of water, and therefore to situations and events most related to emotions and emotional issues. It's funny. I re-watched 'Perfect Blue' too long ago, and I feel that film is more relevant in this day and age than the era it was made in.

Totally. It’s why I’ve designed several of my older female OC’s to actually look to be in their mid-to-late 30’s. Freyja has several grey streaks in her fading red hair, crows eyes, etc.

I think people want their characters to… Well, have character. It’s the little flaws that leads to relatability.

I really love the colour choices and painting technique for these comic book panel samples. Reminds me of the work Japanese artist Katsuya Terada did for the Nintendo Power Guide for the NES Legend of Zelda and Dragon Quest 1, among other illustrations he made during this period.

Here's a sampling of my work done this year.

Her name is Freyja. She’s 6ft 5in, a former hero in her youth, currently a blacksmith, and is a loving wife to her big soft man and a wonderful parent to their daughter.

The Judgement Arcana is associated with realizing one's calling, gaining a deep understanding of life & a feeling of acceptance or absolution, when looking back on the path one has travelled with self-awareness & infinite possibilities.

In this illustration, a Valkyrie is travelling on horseback across the skies, wielding spear in-hand, as a new dawn emerges post-Ragnarök. The word "Valkyrie" comes from the Old Norse word "valkyrja", meaning "Chooser of the slain". In Norse Mythology, the Valkyries were a group of female warriors responsible for taking fallen warriors to Valhalla upon their death in the mortal realm. Thank you! I've been studying a ton of old anime background art to improve my painting skills, and while I was studying from a bunch of Gunbuster screen caps, one of those 1 minute BG studies turned into one of those "What the hell, why not?" moments for me.

Conversely, The Sun Arcana signifies true accomplishment and optimism with one's initial happiness, especially when one is in the right place, at the right time, with the right people to do the right thing.
