I don’t know how things will ever get better sadly, with the very cause of individual liberty being associated with Trumpism because of Musk’s rhetoric and the American Libertarian Party’s actions. I do hope the ideas somehow find a way to survive

I just hope the movement for genuine human freedom finds a way to survive, and the cause of individual liberty isn’t forever tainted by Trumpism in peoples minds

So far they haven’t fired anyone that works for the oppressive parts of the state. They’d never want to touch the things they can use for repression!

I just hope the Trump administration won’t start abusing financial surveillance to target people who send money to Ukraine. As pro Russia as they’ve been I do worry about that

There is one scenario where the pendulum might massively swing back: if a far left Democrat gets elected in 2028 and screws up the economy even worse with things like wealth taxes and extreme regulations.

There’s two different strands of libertarianism, the big tent one that included people like Spooner and Bastiat that believed in universal rights, and the “Paleo” strand consisting of those like late Rothbard and Hoppe. I think if anything. Elon has embraced some ideas from the latter.
